Revolut is a British FinTech company established in 2015 by Nikolay Storonsky and Vladyslav Yatsenko. Revolut was initially offering payment accounts and cards to retail customers in the UK, but has been extending its product range into foreign exchange, stock, crypto and commodities trading and insurance. After obtaining a specialized bank licence in Lithuania, Revolut started offering loans and deposits. Since 2017, Revolut has been serving business customers. In 2019 Revolut started its expansion outside Europe and launched its products in Australia and Singapore, and in 2020 - in the United States and Japan.
Unlike its rival Wise (formerly TransferWise) which went public in July 2021 on the London Stock Exchange, Revolut remains privately-owned. Currently Revolut has more than 1000 shareholders, with corporate investors having around 75,00% shares and private investors - 25,00%.
