On 30 July 2018, ABN AMRO announced the acquisition of Societe Generale Private Banking NV, the private banking subsidiary of Societe Generale in Belgium. The merger transaction was completed on 28 February 2019. On 30 August 2019, ABN AMRO Private Banking Belgium was absorbed by ABN AMRO Bank N.V.

ABN AMRO Private Banking Belgium is a member of Guarantee Fund for Financial Services (GFFS) and makes its contributions into it.
