Nationwide Building Society (Isle of Man Branch) provides savings and time deposit accounts on EUR, GBP and USD. On May 26, 2016 Nationwide announced proposed closure in 2017. The decision was based on a number of factors including demand from customers, volumes of current business, ongoing running costs and the contribution of its Isle of Man branch to the wider Nationwide business. On March 03, 2017 the branch counter services stopped operating. On June 30, 2017 Nationwide was be closed and surrendered its license on January 18, 2018.
Nationwide Building Society participates in the deposit guarantee scheme of the Isle of Man. This deposit guarantee scheme applies to any credit balance on an account with a bank made by natural persons (Isle of Man and foreign), legal entities (Isle of Man and foreign) and covers up to up to 50,000 GBP per bank per depositor. Nationwide Building Society is a member of Isle of Man Depositors’ Compensation Scheme and makes its contributions into it.
